Thinking of making some home improvements, but not sure where to begin? Check out the latest home improvement trends for Summer 2022, based on our customer enquiries! This year there seems to be a real desire to bring natural light inside, and make the most of any outdoor space you have.

1. Composite Stable Doors

With the sunny weather and our increased focus as a society on ventilation after the pandemic, we’re getting SO many enquiries about composite stable doors.

Pet owners love them! Being able to open the top half and leave the bottom section closed means that you can let the fresh air in without your furry friends escaping.

Our ultra-high quality composite stable doors come from the fabulous Rockdoor and Solidor, and come in a wide range of styles, colours and finishes, with the same incredible security features as front doors.

2. Solid Conservatory Roof Upgrades

Is your conservatory noisy and cold in rainy weather? And unbearably hot when the sun shines through? We can help!

Transform your conservatory into a comfortable, all year-round living space with our range of insulated solid conservatory roofs. Designed to replace existing glass or polycarbonate roofs, these high quality thermal insulated roof solutions are easy and convenient to install and can provide substantial energy cost savings.

Staywarm Energy Conservatories are warm in winter and cool in summer! Our special insulated glazing uses glass with solar control, as well as special coatings to keep heat inside in winter and deflect it in summer.

3. Orangeries

With the current high energy prices and energy efficiency becoming more important for many people, we are seeing a lot of enquiries about building an orangery.

An orangery is an extension similar to a conservatory, but with solid brick walls. As they are closer to a traditional extension than conservatories are, orangeries generally add more value to your house than a conservatory.

The roof lantern and solid materials used in an orangery provide better insulation than a conservatory, which means you can happily use an orangery all year round, and not worry about burning through those heating bills.

4. Flush Profile Windows

The newest addition to our fantastic range of energy efficient windows is the Timberlook Flush Sash & Casement range. Made from energy efficient uPVC with timber-like effects and details, Timberlook windows are hand-built and mechanically-jointed, with the most authentic looking square joints to mimic a wooden window frame aesthetic.

The flush style is ideal for period or historic projects and the windows are accepted in many conservation areas by local planning authorities. Our minimal looks are also modern, and often used in new build homes. Find out more about flush profile windows.

5. Secure Porches

Have you thought of adding a porch to your property? Lots of our customers have in 2022! Adding a porch can have many benefits, especially for adding a layer of security to your home.

Adding a porch can add value to your home, as well as being a great extra space for coats and shoes. Having a porch on your property helps to keep children and pets safe inside.

Our energy efficient porches come in a range of materials and styles, from brick-built to fully glazed, using the highest quality composite doors and insulated glazing as standard.

6. Sliding or Bifolding Doors

If you are looking to bring the outside in, or let more natural light into a room in your home, sliding or bifolding patio doors are a great option, and very popular with our customers this year.

In particular, we have seen a rise in customers wanting to utilise outbuildings such as garages as a garden room – insulating the walls and roof, and adding floor-to-ceiling glazed doors to extend the new space into the garden.

We can supply and fit a wide range of sliding, casement and bifolding patio doors, which come with our signature Maxitherm high performance insulated glass as standard.

7. Wood Burning Stoves in the Conservatory

With many of our customers opting to make their conservatory more energy efficient and being able to use it as an all-year-round space, we have found that many customers are thinking more deeply about the interior design of the room.

Conservatories are often chilly during winter (due to poor insulation) and may be abandoned by families during the colder months. A wood burning stove converts a cold glass-box into a warm and relaxing space.

Is your conservatory too cold and draughty to use every day? Book a free, no obligation quote and survey appointment, and find out how we can transform your old conservatory into a cosy room to use in all weathers.
